Chris is settling into his new home for the next year quite well from what I can tell. I was able to talk to him this morning for almost an hour and catch up on how he's doing over there. They are done with any sort of training they may have needed and are now prepared to do their job. I've been instructed that I'm not to give too much information on what they are doing or where they are going, so you won't get that here, but know that he's safe and that "it's a dry 120 degrees"!!! He said that it's hot, but not like it is in Virginia... no humidity. He has some of the creature comforts that home has where he is so that's nice to hear.
I attended a Family Readiness Group meeting on Saturday and got a lot of great information regarding the next year. We were fortunate enough to have Chris's Captain call while we were in our meeting and give us a bit of a break down of what they've been doing for the last couple of months and what they will be doing while over seas. He also gave us a chance to ask questions regarding their deployment, safety, what they might need and of course the all important R & R! Though Chris and I had wonderful plans to meet some place exotic, like Greece, it looks like we'll be a little more local due to the fact that they won't know when they'll be traveling until about a week before they get to leave! That's ok, we'll take what we can get!
In short, he's doing well, his has air conditioning, shelter and food. He's ok. I do have an APO address for anyone that would like to send him a birthday card this week or a package anytime over the next however long. I won't be posting it anywhere, so if you'd like it please shoot me a message and I'll e-mail it to you. Keeping the guys safe is priority 1, so we keep the important information off of public places.
From what I've heard from him and the captain of his unit, they won't really need much while away, they have access to pretty much anything and everything, but if I hear from him that he needs something specific, I'll definitely let you know. Even if you just want to send him a note, I'm sure he'd appreciate it. Though we can communicate with him over e-mail, facebook and the telephone, there's something about a letter in the mail that keeps him smiling, not to mention he can read it over and over again without have to have Internet access! So please keep him in your thoughts and prayers and send him plenty of love.
As always, thanks so much for the continued support through this difficult time.
Oh and in case everyone didn't see it on facebook, Chris was able to make it to a little get together we had at our house this past weekend... in 2 dimensional form of course!! Now he can be anywhere we want to be! We came up with the idea in Wisconsin and I ordered it as soon as I got home!

can you tell me where you ordered the cut out please! I'd love to get one for the kiddies :)
